Privacy policy

Information we collect

We collect only what an order actually requires:

• Contact details — name, email address, and shipping address you enter at checkout.
• Phone number — optional, and collected only if you choose local pickup or local delivery, so we can coordinate the handoff.
• Order information — the parts you bought, order total, and delivery or pickup status.
• Payment information — card payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number; we retain only the last four digits and the card brand for order support.
• Basic technical data — standard server logs and the cookie that keeps your shopping cart working between pages.

How we use it

Your information is used to run your order and nothing else:

• Process payment, fulfill, and ship or hand off your order.
• Send transactional updates — order confirmation, shipping and tracking notices, and pickup or delivery coordination.
• Provide customer support and handle returns.
• Meet tax, accounting, and other legal obligations.

Text messages (SMS/MMS)

If you give us your phone number when choosing local pickup or delivery, we send text messages about that order only — confirming your pickup window, following up if the time needs to change, and a reminder the morning of your pickup with the address and directions. Message frequency varies by order, typically two to four messages. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. Opting out of texts does not affect your order; we will reach you by email instead.

We do not sell your information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes. Specifically, mobile phone numbers and SMS consent are never sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We do not send marketing texts at all — every message we send relates to an order you placed.

Who we share it with

We share the minimum necessary with the service providers that make an order work, and only so they can perform that service for us:

• Stripe — payment processing.
• Shippo, USPS, and UPS — shipping labels and package tracking.
• Twilio — delivering the text messages described above.
• eBay — only for items you purchase through our eBay storefront.
• Our email provider — sending order confirmations and receipts.

Data retention and security

Order records are kept as long as needed for warranty, returns, accounting, and tax requirements. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored on access-controlled servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect precisely so there is less to protect.

Your choices

You can exercise any of the following by emailing orders@markdownparts.com:

• Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct or delete it, subject to records we must retain by law.
• Opt out of texts at any time by replying STOP.
• Colorado residents have additional rights under the Colorado Privacy Act; we honor these requests regardless of where you live.

Children's privacy

Our storefront is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
